Platelet and WBC have similar weight, hence PRP could not separate the two completely. Therefore, the current marketed PRP products are mostly “PRP with WBC”, as WBC could release large quantity of inflammation factors, PGE2, pure platelet PRP is then a better choice compared with WBC PRP for clinical use on tissue regeneration.
Platelet is able to provide tissue regeneration signal. WBC is able to promote tissue decomposition and inflammation, which affects clinical treatment efficacy on PRP. Therefore, good quality of PRP must be able to elevate platelet concentration level, at the same time reduce WBC in proportion.
